My TI-Nspire CX/TI-Nspire CX CAS is frozen or does not boot up correctly
A factory reset is required. Please note that saved files and programs may be deleted during this reset.
Ensure that there are no buttons that are stuck down below the keypad and please ensure that the reset button located on the back is not stuck down below the bottom case. If it appears stuck, use a paper clip to move it back into position.
Step 1: Press the reset button on the back of the calculator.
Please Note: Please check the reset button on the back your calculator to see what steps to follow next.
a) For TI-Nspire CX or TI-Nspire CX CAS WITH a Blue Reset Button:
Begin by holding down the reset button for 5 seconds. Release the reset button, press and hold the [doc] [enter] and [EE] keys, and press and release the [on] key.
b) For TI-Nspire CX or TI-Nspire CX CAS WITHOUT a Blue Reset Button:
Begin by holding down the reset button. With the reset button held down, press and hold the [doc] [enter] and [EE] keys, then release the reset button.
Please note that you may have to attempt the above steps a few times before you successfully get to the below maintenance menu.
Step 3: The calculator will boot up as in the previous reset, but will display a menu with the following maintenance options:
1. Cancel - The most non-intrusive reset option; no changes are made, the calculator restarts.
2. Delete Operating System – The operating system will be deleted without deleting any documents.
3. Delete Document Folder Contents – This will delete the user’s documents, but will not delete the OS.
4. Complete Format – This will delete the OS and all documents for a total erase of memory.
Please try the options in the following order: 1, 2, 3, 4.
Options 2 and 4 will require you to reinstall your operating system.
Please ensure that you have installed the TI-Computer Link Software and the latest OS for your calculator.
Step 4: To transfer your updated OS to your calculator, please see our guide.
